The 250-kilogram bomb could be rendered harmless by the explosive ordnance disposal service. The approximately 3500 residents who previously had to leave their homes were able to return to their homes.
A school and a kindergarten were also within a 400-metre radius of the bomb. The World War II bomb was found on Monday afternoon during construction work in Plankstadt, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis. The bomb was successfully defused in the evening by the police.
