In Plankstadt (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis), a World War II bomb was successfully defused on Monday. The police reported in the evening that the 250-kilogram bomb could be rendered harmless by the explosive ordnance disposal service. The approximately 3500 residents who previously had to leave their homes were able to return to their homes.
According to a police spokeswoman, a school and a kindergarten were also within an evacuation radius of 400 meters. The World War II bomb was found on Monday afternoon during construction work. Dpa
