Brussels approves billions in aid for green steel in Bremen. EU wants to become climate neutral by 2050.

Germany is allowed to provide 1.3 billion euros for the switch to climate-neutrally produced steel at the ArcelorMittal sites. The company currently operates three coal blast furnaces and four oxygen inflation converters at the two locations to produce crude steel. It will also help end dependence on fossil fuels from Russia and rapidly advance the ecological transition.
