An agent of the Interdepartmental Directorate of Atlantic Roads (Dira) was killed and another injured on Monday by a car that mowed them down. The driver of the vehicle involved was seriously injured.
The accident occurred at midday on the RN11, near La Rochelle, where this patrol intervened to secure the surroundings of a truck that broke down on the 2x2 lanes. One of the officers died instantly, the other was hospitalized in relative emergency, according to a statement from Transport Minister Clément Beaune.
