Former Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang has “resigned” from his post as a deputy, according to state media. Announcement comes before the start next week in Beijing of the annual high mass of the Chinese Parliament.

Qin Gang, 57, considered close to President Xi Jinping, took over as head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 2022. He was relieved of his duties seven months later, a surprise decision for which the authorities did not respond given no justification. Wang Yi, before Qin Gang was China's foreign minister, has taken over this post since the latter's ouster.
