A broad majority in the city council wants restaurants and clubs in Regensburg to be allowed to open longer again. In 2005, the legal ban was lifted, but this new freedom did not last long.
In January 2006, the opening hours for pubs and discos were cut again. Since then, there has been a general closing time of two o'clock in the morning in the old town area and in Stadtamhof. From 1 July, the closure period for restaurants should be suspended on a trial basis.
