Simone Weber was convicted of murdering her former lover Bernard Hettier. She was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 1991.

She died Thursday at the age of 94. Her life was a murky novel into which she dragged part of her family and those close to her. She never made the slightest confession, despite the considerable evidence accumulated against her after five years of investigation. She had apparently never come to terms with their breakup. The case began in June 1985 with the sudden disappearance in Nancy of Bernard H Bettier, 55, and his car. Without news from him for several days, his loved ones were left in despair. He was shot dead with a rifle shot and his body was found in a ditch. Weber was found guilty of his murder in 1991 and was jailed for 14 years. She has always refused to recognize the murder of her ex-lover for which she will serve 14 years behind bars. Her death was announced by her family in a statement on Thursday. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law.
