Lloyd Austin was discharged from Walter Reed National Medical Center this Tuesday at 3:30 pm (ET) after being rushed to the hospital facility last Sunday for a problem in the bladder. Austin was expected to resume his duties as Secretary of Defense around 5:00 pm ET.

The White House and Congress were notified of the decision. According to a statement Tuesday, Austin's bladder problem is unrelated to his previous cancer diagnosis.
