DeSantis signs the law that prohibits Florida minors from using social networks: a tough legal battle is expected. The law signed by the Republican governor, one of the most restrictive in the country regarding social networks, prohibits minors under 14 from having accounts and requires those aged 15 and 16 to obtain permission from their parents to open them.

It will go into effect on January 1, if a court does not stop it sooner. The new law was Republican House Speaker Paul Renner's top legislative priority.
