Two cyclists broke into the junction between the road and the tracks in the area of the Lod train station on Wednesday evening. A few seconds before the train passed, and after all warning measures were activated, the train driver managed to perform emergency braking.
Although the train failed to come to a full stop, the two cyclists remained unharmed. Due to the incident, there were slight delays in train traffic at nearby stations, which returned to normal shortly thereafter. The Ministry of Transport and Israel Railways are working to implement a level separation and cancel the meeting in question.
