Electricity company Xcel Energy admits it could be responsible for the historic fire in Texas. The company warns that its facilities “appear to have been involved in the ignition” of the devastating fires that have consumed thousands of acres in the state's north.

The cause of the Smokehouse Creek Fire, the largest in state history, which burned more than 1 million acres, is still under investigation by Texas officials, but the utility company said it is also conducting its own research.
