Ethiopia: head of intelligence services appointed deputy prime minister. The deputies also approved the appointment of the former Ethiopian ambassador to the United Nations, Taye Atske Selassie, to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Demeke Mekonnen has also held the position since 2020, replacing Temesgen Tiruneh, who had held the post since 2012. The appointment was announced by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed at a press conference in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
