Farm hands lashed with belts, without medical care. Farm workers near Naples were allegedly left with belts after taking a timeout or left without hospital treatment after serious illness.
The probe has led to the issuance of four residence bans in the province of Caserta for agricultural entrepreneurs from Maranodi Napoli. The entrepreneurs are accused of the crimes of labor exploitation and employment of illegal labor. They allegedly forced the mainly North African hands to work for 11 hours a day at a pit.
