A snowslide near the summit of the Zugspitze near Garmisch-Partenkirchen swept away a previously unknown mountaineer. The man fell 400 meters deep, rescue workers could only determine his death.

Eleven other climbers noticed the accident and also had to be rescued. Third-party fault is currently not assumed. Police warn of further snow slides in the coming days and weeks. Such departures are not uncommon due to the current weather in the summit regions.
