Fire in Istanbul club with 29 deaths - conversion probably illegal. Nine people have been arrested so far, including the club operator and those responsible for the renovation.
The club is located in the basement of a high-rise building in the Besiktas district of Istanbul. Most of the bodies have already been handed over to the families. The fire was probably caused by the explosion of an oxygen cylinder near the exit. The people inside were probably suffocated. Why they were unable to save themselves is the subject of investigations.
