Sheila Weinberg, 65, was elected tonight (Wednesday) as a member of the Kiryat Tivon council. Weinberg will be the first transgender woman in Israel to become a quorum member of a council plenum of a local authority.

She was born in Afula and the name her parents gave her was "Shlomo". "I will work for the entire community in Israel - I want the glass ceiling to break," she said. She has a master's degree in the philosophy of history, is the chairwoman of the women's association "Trance Israel"
