From the Air Force: Air base near Penzing rated as suitable for stationing an Arrow radar device. Germany is equipping the Arrow weapon system to protect the German population and the German national territory against threats from ballistic missiles.

Territorial missile defense contributes to homeland security and is part of national security precautions. Three locations are planned in the Federal Republic for the installation of the missile defense system. One of them is at the Holzdorf air base near Jessen in the Wittenberg district. The two other locations are in Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein.
