Giant fish weighing tons washed up on an Italian holiday beach in Venice. Fire brigade arrived at the Lido in front of Venice because of a sunfish that had washed up.

The largest sunfish ever recorded, discovered off the Azores, weighed a staggering 2.7 tonnes. At around a thousand kilograms, this is almost lightweight in comparison to the fish found in Australia in the summer. The carcass will be transported to the University of Padua and made available to scientists.
