Greenhouse gas emissions in Italy have reduced by 20% compared to 1990. In 2021, there were 4 climate change adaptation strategies approved.
The use of renewable energy has increased and the share has almost tripled in the period considered. From 6.3% in 2004 it went to 20.4% in 2020, with a value higher than EU target of 17% assigned to Italy. The only approved plan (containing the measures to implement the strategy), as in 2018, is that of the Lombardy Region.
