Sardinia's population of rare griffon vultures is booming with an 11.8% increase in the number of the birds last year. The majority of the species is concentrated in the wildnorthwest of the island, the LIFE Safe for Vultures project said Wednesday.

The stocks now range form 332 to 378 individuals, the project said. The island's long-term survival is at risk, the group said. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED © Copyright ANSA 2015.
