Hezbollah launches new salvo of rockets against an Israeli military base in response to Israeli air strikes the day before on eastern Lebanon. Israel announced on Monday that it had targeted Hezbollah positions in Baalbeck (east), for the first time since the start of the war in Gaza, killing two fighters.

The Baalbeck region, in the Bekaa plain bordering Syria, is a stronghold of Hezbollah which has a significant military presence there. At least 284 people, most of them fighters from Hezbollah and allied groups, and around 44 civilians, have been killed in more than four months.
