Hohenpeißenberg parish church is asbestos-free after 63 years. Instead of stone slabs, aluminum shingles adorn the approximately 2,100 square meter roof of the building.
Church caretaker Ernst Schmidhuber was therefore “very satisfied” when clear changes to the roof became visible in late autumn. Only 15 percent had to be raised by the parish and the archdiocese of Munich-Freising with the remaining 85 percent donated by the community. The cost of the work was around 1.5 million euros alone.
