The two racers are now facing several criminal charges, including participation in an illegal street race, drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs. The driver of the Ford Transit, a 28-year-old Romanian tradesman, smelled strongly of alcohol and the breathalyzer test confirmed that he had been drinking. The drivers of the BMW 3 Series, a Bulgarian, and a German, were also arrested and their licenses were confiscated.
