MEPs believe the release of 10.2 billion euros of European funds is not justified. They see it above all as a political decision.

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, made no comment on the subject. The money is part of the 22 billion euros in cohesion funds promised to Hungary but blocked by Brussels due to obstacles to the rule of law observed in the country. The procedure in question is nonetheless very embarrassing for the European Commission and, even more so, for Ursula von der Leyen, now EPP candidate for a second term.
