A Turkish Airlines flight was prevented from landing twice at Birmingham Airport due to violent gusts of wind. The crew tried to land on the tarmac for the first time at 9:45 a.m., but gave up because the plane was so shaken.

The plane was eventually forced to land at Gatwick Airport, a suburb of London, 225 kilometers from its original destination. Storm Kathleen complicated the landing of airliners throughout the weekend, particularly in Toulouse, where a Tui flight had to make two attempts.
