7,215,256 people with the right to vote will be able to go out today (Tuesday) to vote on the future of their city for the next five years. According to a Maariv survey, it is estimated that the turnout in the current elections for local authorities will be only about 51%.

25,126 candidates are competing in the local elections on approximately 3,768 lists. 807 candidates are running for the position of head of the authority, of which 86 are women, and 470 of which are candidates who have not previously run for mayor or council.
