Parliament could meet next week if there is a green light from the Senate. If senators vote this Wednesday to include abortion in the Constitution, Parliament will meet in Congress next week.

“This afternoon, all eyes will be on the Senate, the breath will be held,” says government spokesperson Prisca Thévenot. The number of abortions is at its highest level in France for 30 years, according to the Council of Ministers. It is the first step in the constitutionalization of the right to voluntary termination of pregnancy.
