Large planting campaign planned along Weilheim's popular swimming lake. A fully grown city tree would produce more than 1,000 kilograms of oxygen per year, providing air for more than 10 people.
After a large city tree is felled, 2,000 new trees would actually have to be planted in order to immediately compensate for the previous ecosystem services. The city building department helped dig up the planting sites for the trees. Planting is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Friday morning.
