Renate and Eduard Heretsch met and fell in love in Königshütte, Upper Silesia, in what is now Poland. “Disguised” as a visit to relatives in Braunschweig, the two managed to escape to the West in 1958. The couple has lived in the district town of Bruck since 1972.
