A charred body was discovered by a passer-by near Corot Park, a city in the 13th arrondissement of Marseille. The corpse was autopsied and quickly identified as belonging to a 27-year-old woman.

The victim was known to the police for acts prior to his death, but had been acquitted and exonerated following this affair. A police source told Le Figaro that the young woman was strangled before being burned, confirming the criminal nature of the facts.
