Giorgia Meloni wants to make Italy a ‘bridge’ between Europe and Africa. She brought together some 60 high-ranking personalities in Rome on Monday.

There were only six African heads of state, excluding the Algerian and Egyptian leaders. As Italy takes over the presidency of the G7, the objective is to launch new cooperation with African countries with increased development aid in return for their help in the fight against illegal immigration. Italy also wants to develop energy agreements to ensure the security of its supplies.
