For International Women's Day, the installation 'Monuments are all male' will be inaugurated at the Pincio in Rome, a symbol of a monumental patriarchy. Out of 228 busts only 3 are dedicated to women.
The creative duo Waw, who has been working on these themes since 2012, has decided to temporarily cover 20 busts of men with as many female portraits, illustrated and printed on canvas. The message is that too often women represented in statues in public space are sexualised and have very scantily clad or undressed bodies.
