Kahneman passed away a few weeks before celebrating his 90th birthday. In 2002 he was awarded the prestigious prize in the field of economics, for a study he conducted together with Amos Tversky. On November 20, 2013, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award given in the U.S. The prestigious prize was awarded to Kahneman in 2002 for his research on the subject of "decision-making under conditions of uncertainty"
