A municipal decree, duly drafted by the mayor of Malemort (Corrèze), prohibits sardine fishing during a festival. The mayor maliciously states that "the omega 3 sardines tight at the bottom of a can have many benefits and that they contribute to the proper functioning of our metabolism" In case they have loaded a fishing rod in their backpack, festival-goers are warned.
The humorous decree justifies this ban by explaining that "sardinefish fishing in the CorrèZE river on our territory would compromise the smooth running of these festivities"
