The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security authorized with a decree dated 31 January 2024 the construction of the Adriatic Link. The electrical connection will consist of two submarine cables of approximately 210 km, laid at a maximum depth of 100 metres.
The conversion stations will be built near the existing electricity stations of Cepagatti (Pescara), in Abruzzo, and Fano (PesaroUrbino), in the Marche. The connection will make it possible to increase the exchange capacity between the Central-Southern and Central-Northern areas of the country by approximately 1,000 MW.
