Olching and its people were close to his heart. Georg Steer campaigned politically for the interests of his fellow citizens for 42 years.
Steer, born in November 1934, grew up in Olching as one of three children. He lost his father when he was just nine years old, and a sister died when she was a toddler. At the age of 64, the widower once again found new happiness in the form of Mathilde Obermeier - at a folk festival, of course.
