March 23rd is World Meteorology Day, an event that aims to remember the fundamental role of this science in shaping a more resilient future society. "The Day serves to remind us that there is a sector, that of meteorological sciences, which studies the atmosphere of our planet," says atmospheric physicist Dino Zardi, from the University of Trento.

“Faced with unprecedented environmental challenges, we are not mere observers,” the national secretary of the World Meteorological Organization, Celeste Saulo, wrote in an open letter.
