One person died in a fire in a fish smokehouse in the Baltic Sea resort of Schönberg. When the fire department was alerted at around 10:20 a.m., the fish shop was already fully engulfed in flames.

Several people trapped in a courtyard were rescued by firefighters. For a 58-year-old woman, any help came too late. She therefore died of smoke poisoning. It was initially unclear why the fire broke out. By midday on Saturday the fire was largely under control and a large number of firefighters were on site.
