A major fire broke out in a building on rue de Lyon, in the 12th arrondissement. 30 engines and 120 firefighters were deployed to contain the flames which spread to several apartments on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors.
Street traffic was cut off and firefighters invited Parisians to avoid the area and not unnecessarily congest the emergency lines. Internet users, witnessing the scene from their homes, shared impressive images of the scene on social networks. The 12th century town hall confirmed that the DGS and Christophe Teisseire, deputy in charge of the transformation of public space, will visit the site.
