Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin says 161 people concerned by report from an intelligence service were excluded. They wanted to be volunteers, torch bearers or work on the Olympic sites during the Paris Olympic Games.
“We have, for example, a radical Islamist born in 1981 who wanted to carry the flame, two ultra-right types born in 1988 and 1992, one of whom applied to be a volunteer and wanted to go to Ukraine to fight alongside the Russians,” he says.
