A police officer was stabbed late Wednesday afternoon in Bénifontaine, in Pas-de-Calais. The attacker, suffering from schizophrenia, stabbed the police officer in the temple.
To end the attack, one of the officials took out his weapon and fired at least twice, hitting the assailant in the elbow and shoulder. The man was arrested and taken to hospital, as was the injured police officer. The latter's injury was not life-threatening and was treated with stitches.
