Police arrest a thousand climate activists in The Hague. They make serious accusations against the government.
The highway has now been cleared and opened to traffic. The protests briefly ended in October 2023 because Parliament called on the government to present a plan to phase out fossil fuel subsidies. Since this plan is not yet available, the activists demonstrated again. The outgoing climate minister Rob Jetten is planning to present his proposals for reducing subsidies to parliament in the coming days. He asked Extinction Rebellion for “a few days of patience”
