Puchheim warns against the illegal scaring of rooks. Rooks are often considered a nuisance, but are protected species.
If unauthorized people are observed scaring away the protected animals, they risk being reported and punished with a fine of up to 50,000 euros. The city of Puchheim has been trying to prevent this for years through cost-intensive, controlled measures and is therefore calling for all illegal deterrence to be stopped. The government of Upper Bavaria established so-called taboo zones in which no measures are permitted.
