The stairs to Engelsberg have been renewed. The handrail and steps are made of wood.

The surface of the steps is made of a so-called monastery mixture. It has nothing to do with the nearby Fürstenfeld monastery, says Christian Metzger, deputy head of the city gardening department. The asphalted stairs date from the 1980s, says building site manager Peter Langenegger. Now a border has been built along the street that directs the water differently. And special gutters were also builtalong the stairs to guide the water.
