He appeared in court later Thursday and agreed to be returned to Italy, local media reported. Riina died in 2017 aged 87 after his arrest of him in January 1993 following a bloody bombing campaign that claimed the lives of anti-mafia magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino the previous year.
