Saar state parliament discusses constitutional changes. Changes were proposed jointly by the ruling SPD and the opposition CDU.

An amendment removes the term “race’ from the constitution when listing possible grounds for discrimination. A third amendment stipulates “the protection and promotion of the state’s state” for taking on voluntary work. It should be the state's responsibility to act according to the principle of sustainability in order to protect the interests of future generations, says the Saarland state parliament.
