The 12-year-old wanted to swim to escape the torpor of Pentecost weekend. She went to the banks of Guiers in Pont-de-Beauvoisin with her older sister and friends.
The two sisters were sucked into eddies formed by the hydroelectric plant. The largest managed to rise to the surface, while her friends tried to rescue the youngest. The three teenagers, unharmed, took refuge on a rock and alerted the emergency services. But, around 20 p.m., they discover the lifeless body of the teenager.
