Several landslides leave the archaeological zone of Machu Picchu incommunicado. At least 17 people were injured by the mudslide and two Peruvian tourists are still registered as missing.

Rains in recent weeks have also isolated more than 40 communities in the east of the country, with an emergency declared in 100 districts in 17 regions.
