Around one in six jobs in Hesse are paid a maximum of around 13 euros per hour. The threshold for low wages in April 2023 was an hourly wage of 13.04 euros gross (2022: 12.50 euros) More women worked in these jobs than men; their share was 55 percent.
The higher earners received at least 40.67 euro per hour gross in spring 2023. This group is defined as the tenth of all employees with the highest hourly wages. The average hourly wage in April last year was 20.74 euros gross.
