Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire because the mattress was already smoldering when they arrived. The fire occurred in an apartment on the third floor of a six-story residential building on Geyerstrasse, the Munich fire department said. Several neighbors and passers-by alerted the fire department to the burning sofa bed.
